Socio-emotional agents and their applications
In this talk I will present our current work toward endowing virtual agents with communicative and emotional capabilities. I will describe an interactive system of an agent dialoging with human users in an emotionally colored manner. Several methods have been applied to enrich the repertoire of multimodal behaviors ranging from crowd-sourcing method to motion capture. These behaviors can be displayed with different qualities and intensities to simulate various communicative intentions and emotional states. I will then present serious game applications making use of socio-emotional agents.

Biography
Accessibility, Communication and Education of People with disabilities
In this talk, I will present main projects conducted in LaTICE Research Lab toward improving accessibility of people with disabilities. I will start by presenting the project WebSign which aims to offer to the deaf community a platform facilitating communication through the Web. The objective of this platform is to translate automatically written texts to sign language by using avatar technologies. This platform is based in a collaborative approach for building sign language dictionaries. Thanks to this platform, we developed several applications for deaf community as the MMS SIGN software allowing communication with deaf through mobile phones, the generator of e-learning course for deaf pupils, the announcement service for Deaf and others applications. Then, I will present recent research works toward the development of an accessible online learning environment for persons with disabilities from the design and specification step to the implementation. We will present, in particular, the accessible version “MoodleAcc+” of the well known e-learning platform Moodle as well as new elaborated generic models and a range of tools for authoring and evaluating accessible educational content.
