Tutorial 1
Improving Your Web Site with WCAG 2.0
Presented by Shawn Henry - USA

Accessibility is about real people using and creating the Web. Access to information is a human right recognized by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Tunisia has been one of the first countries to ratify this convention and start implementing accessibility policies.
In addition to being a human right, accessibility is a key aspect of high-quality websites. Accessibility makes your website available and more usable to people with disabilities; to people using mobile phones and PDAs; to people with low bandwidth connections; to seniors, an increasingly important demographic; and others.

WCAG 2.0 is the updated international standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) from the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) that was published in December 2008. This tutorial shows how to use the documents associated with WCAG 2.0 to find different types of information when you need it.

This tutorial demonstrates Web accessibility barriers and solutions using real websites from participants. We will cover the easy things and the most important things that you need to do to make your website accessible. Participants will get code and design examples, and see/hear how people with disabilities and assistive technologies handle them.
